About Library Day

Barbican

I love going to the library. It’s one of my favourite things to do. I’ve always loved being surrounded by books although sometimes it’s difficult to choose a reasonable amount to bring home. I like knowing that there are a gazillion books available to me so that I’m never in danger of not having something to read.

Living in the city has the advantage of giving me a variety of libraries to visit. There are four that I visit regularly; one is conveniently located relatively close to where I work. The picture above is the complex in which the lovely Barbican Library resides.

I thought that it would be a good idea to set up a Library Day page as it’s a regular feature in my life and that way I can share with you the books that I pick up.

If you happen to notice that I’ve picked up a book from the library that I don’t talk about on my blog, it’s a good chance that it wasn’t my cup of tea. I don’t like to say negative things about other people’s writing unless

a) it’s constructive criticism

or

b) it’s offensive (ie. racist, sexist, homophobic or some other socially unacceptable -ist/-ic)

I try my best to stick to these rules, but be advised that I’m not perfect. I have my bad days too. I will most likely not finish a book that I didn’t like anyway, so there would be no point in talking about it.

Do you have a favourite library?
