Hello there! My name is Buffy (which you may have already guessed) and I live in London with my dreamboat husband (which you may not have guessed). Living in the city gives me the opportunity to borrow books from several libraries and to rack up late fees. (These libraries love me.)

I love reading! My goal is to read 71 books this year. You would know this if you were following me on Goodreads! (You can find me Β here Do look me up.

I enjoy writing and am currently working onΒ a novel based on African mythology. I also enjoy writing short stories. I’ll update you on my writing progress periodically. I don’t like to write about my writing too much. I feel that the energy I spend on writing about my writing would be better spent on my actual writing. So…yeah.

I have been writing this blog for over a year now which has given me some interesting insight to my reading habits. One thing I’ve noticed: I love zombies. And pretty much anything horrific and creepy. Also, I don’t like to do posts on books that I don’t like. (Unless the authorial voice is misogynistic, racist or in any other way discriminatory. Then it’s fair game. It’s 2014, people.)

The main thing that I’ve learned is that I love talking to others about books that I like. I’ve met quite a few interesting people on WordPress this past year and I’ve really loved our chats. I especially love it when you have read the same book I have and you tell me what you think about it. Thank you for spending your time with me. I appreciate you.

Happy reading!

  1. Your name is Buffy??? Your real name….? If so, THAT’S SO AWESOMEEEEEE. I take it your parents were a fan of the TV show? πŸ™‚

    • Yep, my real name is Buffy. My parents were not fans of the show, though. I actually pre-date the vampire slayer. Buffy was my mom’s nickname and so they made it my given name. πŸ™‚

      • Really? That’s so interesting, I guess I thought that they made the name up because I have never heard of it anywhere else.

I’m sorry, it must get so annoying when people make the comparison all the time! Buffy is my all time favourite show though so I couldn’t help nerding out a little. πŸ˜›

        Happy blogging. πŸ™‚

      • Hahaha! No worries. I do get it all the time, but I’ve learned to take it as a compliment. I’ve never actually watched the show, although that’s probably because I thought that it would be too sad if Buffy watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I highly encourage nerding out, though. So go for it! πŸ™‚

  2. Now that I know you live in London, I’ll be reading all of your future blog posts with an English accent, whilst burning with jealousy over your cute accent and literary prowess. πŸ˜›

  3. I nominated you for the Super Sweet Blogging Award today, July 1st. If you would like to accept, you can see the wonderfully sweet award on my July 1st entry, @

  4. Hi there! I’ve nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award, because… well.. I find your blog to be Very Inspiring! Lol! You can see my post about the award, which is really just a fun and creative β€œI think you’re awesome”, on my page here: Keep being amazing!! I love visiting your blog!

  5. Thanks for the nomination! I’m really glad that you like my blog. I think that I’ve exhausted my supply of bloggers with the nominations from the super sweet blogging award and I don’t want to put any undue pressure on anyone to pass it on, so I might have to sit this one out. Thanks for reading though and I look forward to seeing more of your cosplay! πŸ˜€

  6. Thank you so much for the like! Have you indeed read “Jerk California” before? If not, I recommend it. I am going to follow you on Goodread right now.

  11. Hi Buffy- Love your blog! I am enjoying reading it, and I look forward to following!

    Keep up the great work,

  12. Hello again, Buffy. You’re looking as nice as you did the last time I visited your site, so I trust you are well?

I published my latest book last week and I was wondering if you would be interested in reviewing it on your wonderful blog here. It’s called Saying Goodbye to Warsaw and is set in the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII. I can send you a digital copy if you have an ereader, or I can send you a paperback copy.

The cover and blurb is on my site if you would like to take a look.

    • Hi Michael! I’m very well, thanks. I’ve looked at the synopsis and I would love to read your book and review it on my blog. Paperback would be preferable for me as I tend to forget about books I have on my kindle, but I do read ebooks from time to time. It just might take me a bit longer to get through it. Let me know if paperback is ok and I shall email you my address. Thanks!

  13. Hey thank you for following my blog! I will definitely follow you on goodreads as well and I hope you make it to 61 books haha. And by the way, that Zombie choose-your-own-adventure post made my day–very funny!

  14. I am such a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer so I love your name. And you, as well. That’s all. πŸ™‚

  15. Hey, Buffy! Thank you for following me over at my fionakernaghan site. :)) I see you’re working towards a book- if self publishing’s a goal you might love this show, made in your neck of the woods. Good luck!

    • oops! Just read further and saw you are not into self publishing… ah well. Maybe some other readers and followers will dig the link! :))

      • Haha! No worries. I’m not against self-publishing but I want to give traditional publishing a try first. Thank you for the link, I’ll have a look at it. I like to keep my options open. πŸ™‚

  16. Hi!
I’ve been reading your book reviews and would like to invite you to a new Pintrest board:

This is a place for book lovers to share their favorite books and also a great place to increase traffic to your website by pinning your own book reviews or book-related discussions. Let me know if you’re interested. email me at

(you don’t have to approve this comment- this message is just FYI and not blogspam)

  17. Your reviews look like you take the time and thought for really good insights. Thank you for following my blog and I am following you as well. By the way, my first novel is still in manuscript form and holding the laundry room door open. Maybe I’ll get back to it as well.

    • Thank you! I prefer to talk about books as far as how they make me feel rather than doing proper reviews. It’s much more fun for me that way.

It’s definitely hard going back to something that you’ve put down. I feel like I really want to try to make something out of it so I’m doing my best.

Good luck with yours and thanks for following my blog! I look forward to reading your posts!

  18. Thank you for visiting and hopefully braid is always awake. Compassion greetings from Gede Prama πŸ™‚

  19. I have been reading your blog all day long. πŸ™‚ Missed talking to you, Buffy! And you have too many awesome books here. My to-read list is piling up again. πŸ˜€
